WTF- A single Bitcoin transaction has a bigger carbon footprint than 100,000 hours of YouTube videos

WTF- A single  Bitcoin transaction  has a bigger carbon footprint than 100,000 hours of youtube videos The primary criticism against Bitcoin in today's market is its excessive energy consumption. Recent findings shed light on the magnitude of this issue. According to Digiconomist’s Bitcoin Energy Consumption Index, a single Bitcoin transaction, on average, can consume up to 1752.79 kilowatt-hours (KWh) of electrical energy. This is equivalent to the energy consumed by 1.2 million VISA transactions. VISA, which powers approximately 42% of the world's credit market, is one of the largest payments providers, alongside Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. Remarkably, even VISA's carbon footprint is smaller. Furthermore, Bitcoin's carbon footprint, the measure of greenhouse gases generated by cryptocurrency mining, is equivalent to watching 138,762 hours of YouTube or, in VISA terms, conducting 1.8 million transactions. Over the course of a year, Bitcoin...

what is hacking and hacker.....?

Ethical Hacking Ethical hacking and ethical hacker   are terms used to describe hacking performed by a company or individual to help identify potential threats on a computer or network. For hacking to be deemed ethical, the hacker must obey the following rules: 1. Expressed (often written) permission to probe the network and attempt to identify potential security risks. 2. You respect the individual's or company's privacy. 3. You close out your work, not leaving anything open for you or someone else to exploit at a later time. 4. VerySad - A grandfather died of a heart attack after minors swatted him over his rare Twitter handle. News channels reported new information on the April 2020 incident involving Mark Herring of Bethpage, Tennessee. A swatting incident—the act of calling 911 to report a fake crime so armed responders storm an address—was organized on Discord in an attempt to intimidate Herring into handing over his valuable   @tennessee Twitter handle. A then-minor by the name of Shane Sonderman was part of the campaign against Herring. "He was from Tennessee," says Corinna Fitch, Herring's daughter. "He's the one that collected all our information, my address, my sister's, my moms, my mother sister, and put it on a channel on Discord, which is a gaming chat forum." A second minor, from the UK, called the local police department to make the false report. Herring's son said: "The neighbors called and said 'There's police everywhere...

Man behind LinkedIn scraping said he grabbed 700M profiles 'for fun'

Image
Last month we reported a  LinkedIn scraping that exposed the data of 700 million users – some 92% of all those on the service. The data included location, phone numbers, and inferred salaries The man behind it has now been identified, and says that he did it “for fun” – though he is also selling the data. Background Data scraping is a controversial topic. At its simplest, it means writing a piece of software to visit a webpage, read the data displayed, and then add it to a database. More commonly, people will use APIs (application programming interfaces) provided by the web service for legitimate purposes, and use it to grab large quantities of data. It’s controversial because, on the one hand, those doing the scraping can argue that they are only accessing publicly available data – they are simply doing so in an efficient way. Others argue that they are abusing tools not intended for the purpose, and that there is more data available through APIs than is visible on we...

CVE-2021-30563 also marks the ninth zero-day addressed by Google to combat real-world atta...

latest news of whatsapp

Image
Finally- WhatsApp  to let users message without their phones WhatsApp  is testing a new feature that will let people message without using their phone for the first time. At present,  WhatsApp is linked to a user's phone. Its desktop and web apps need that device to be connected and receiving messages. But the new feature will let users send and receive messages "even if your phone battery is dead". Up to four other devices - like PCs and tablets - can be used together,  WhatsApp said. To begin with, the new feature will be rolled out as a beta test for a "small group of users", and the team plans to improve performance and add features before enabling it for everyone. End-to-end encryption - a key selling point for WhatsApp - will still work under this new system, it said. Several other messaging apps already have such a feature, including rival encrypted app Signal, which requires a phone for sign-up, but not to exchange messages. But the feature...

Russia's most aggressive ransomware group disappeared. It's unclear who disabled them.

Image
Just days after President Biden demanded that President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia shut down ransomware groups attacking American targets, the most aggressive of the groups suddenly went off-line early Tuesday. The mystery is who made it happen. The group, called REvil, short for “Ransomware evil,” has been identified by U.S. intelligence agencies as responsible for the attack on one of America’s largest beef producers, JBS. Two weeks after Mr. Biden and Mr. Putin met in Geneva last month, REvil took credit for a hack that affected thousands of businesses around the world over the July 4 holiday. That latest attack led to Mr. Biden’s ultimatum in a phone call on Friday to the Russian president. Later, Mr. Biden said that “we expect them to act,” and when asked by a reporter later if he would take down the group’s servers if Mr. Putin did not, the president simply said, “Yes.” He may have done exactly that. But that is only one possible explanation...

Between January 2014 and August 2015, the company fired 52 employees over exploiting user data for personal means, said an advance copy of "An Ugly Truth: Inside Facebook's Battle for Domination" that Insider obtained. The engineer, who is unnamed, tapped into the data to "confront" a woman with whom he had been vacationing in Europe after she left the hotel room they had been sharing, the book said. He was able to figure out her location at a different hotel. Another  Facebook engineer used his employee access to dig up information on a woman with whom he had gone on a date after she stopped responding to his messages.
